President of the Educational Employees Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof Biodun Ogunyemi on Monday lamented the plight of college retirees.

Ogunyemi condemned delay within the cost of retirement advantages for the members.

He spoke on Monday on the Olabisi Onabanjo College (OOU), In the past-Iwoye, Ogun State throughout ASUU Sensitization Workshop on Implications of Contributory Pension Scheme.

Ogunyemi, represented by the Zonal Coordinator, Abuja department, Theophilus Lagi, stated it was appalling that employees who had diligently served Nigeria weren’t appreciated.

He stated college retirees have been subjected to all inhuman remedy – starting from month-to-month shuttles between their places to State or Federal headquarters to “hint” paperwork; countless queues at verification centres, generally leading to dying casualties.
